For the final convention of the year, it was a cold start out at Thoroughbred Park in Canberra for Gamma Expo Canberra. This was the first time the event was held at this venue and with some interesting layout decisions our display was tucked in a corner next to the main stage. Admittedly it was a bit disconcerting to not be beside our colleagues in the 501st Black Tower Squad like we have for so many other events in Canberra. Captain Ross Manuel, Commander Peter Hough, Commander Jasmin Manuel, Lieutenant JG David Slaney, Midshipman Ben Hough, Chief Petty Officer Ian Windolf, and Cadets Ian Windolf and Marcus and Eliza Manuel attended the event over both days. As always, the captain’s chair was a massive draw and many a photo was taken, and it was great to meet so many potential new members and general lovers of Star Trek, even if overall the event was much smaller than we anticipated, though that did give the captain a number of opportunities to share responsibilities with new crew to get them used to running the display. It was great to meet so many returning members, even some that we met at our Wagga event making the journey. As always, the tradi-tion of the post-convention meal was undertaken, this time at the Ainslie Football Club. All crew that attended the event enjoyed the event from the seasoned officers to those on their first away mission. It will be interesting to see what the new year brings us
