5–12 July 2026
Communities across Australia are observing NAIDOC Week, an opportunity to celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
For fifty years, NAIDOC Week has encouraged all Australians to learn from and celebrate the world's oldest continuous living cultures. This year's theme, "50 Years of Deadly," recognises the generations of Elders, leaders, artists, educators, and communities whose resilience and strength have shaped the movement and continue to inspire future generations.
The USS Animus proudly acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands throughout our patrol sector and pays respect to Elders past and present. We recognise that understanding our shared history, listening to First Nations voices, and celebrating the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures helps build stronger and more inclusive communities.
On behalf of the officers and crew of the USS Animus, we wish everyone a meaningful NAIDOC Week.
Live Long and Prosper.
