Starfleet Intelligence — Restricted Technical Document — SD 51900
Mission classification
The Valiant-class TRV was developed in response to operational findings from NCC-74210 USS Valiant. The Block II configuration retains the Defiant-derived spaceframe and propulsion envelope — selected for its low sensor cross-section, combat survivability, and established logistical support network — while replacing forward weapons capacity with integrated SIGINT acquisition, signals intercept, and long-range sensor penetration systems. The class is tasked with strategic reconnaissance in denied-access environments where survivability depends on evasion rather than engagement. Combat systems are retained for extraction scenarios only.

Defence systems
- Adaptive low-observable hull geometry
- Reduced sensor cross-section profile
- Auto-modulated regenerative shield matrix
- Optimised for short-duration high-intensity escape windows
- Heavy duranium/tritanium double hull
- 10 cm ablative armour
- High-level structural integrity field
Combat effectiveness index — Galaxy-class baseline = 1,000
Below Galaxy-class in sustained combat. Retains capacity to fight clear of an engagement via Defiant-derived propulsion and evasive hull geometry.
SIGINT / reconnaissance index — Nebula-class baseline = 1,000
SIGINT acquisition capability1,150
Sensor penetration depth1,100
Signal interference resistance1,200
Extraction survival probability1,300
Combat sustainment intentionally limited. Primary mission envelope exceeds Nebula-class baseline across all SIGINT parameters.
