The Ready Room: Happy Birthday Star Trek

Today marks the 54th birthday of Star Trek.

From that point, the world changed. People could see a world where equality was achievable and guaranteed. That is increasingly important in these turbulent and unsettling times. We live out what future historians will consider to hopefully be a turning point in humanity’s history, where we finally say enough is enough. We will no longer accept or allow hate on the basis of race, age, creed, gender or sexual preference, and accept that Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations means we are all welcome to the table.

“We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return; we will be with our friends again, we will be with our families again; we will meet again.”It may seem dark now, but the darkest night always comes before the Dawn.

Hopefully, we can make a world better than the one we have, and we can have that future without having to go through a nuclear war.
